BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University senior six-time NCAA Division III All-American diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and senior three-time NGCA (National Golf Coaches Association) golfer Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) have been named as first-team and repeat as CAPITAL ONE Academic All-Americans.

Pinter, who also made the first-team in 2012, is the most celebrated diver in Yellow Jacket history and Hamilton, who made the third-team in 2012, is the most celebrated women’s golf student-athlete.

“The University would like to congratulate both Julie and Brooke on having both an outstanding season and career at Baldwin Wallace,” said President Robert C. Helmer. “Their work on our campus, in the classroom and on the field of competition was excellent. Both young women exemplify the best of the NCAA Division III philosophy of the student-athlete and are both great examples for our younger student-athletes to follow.”

Pinter graduated with a 3.83 grade point average in communication disorders.  The six-time NCAA Division III All-American (three times in the 1-meter and three times in the 3-meter events), including the national runner-up in the 1-meter diving event at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet also is BW’s 2012-2013 Outstanding Senior Female Athlete.

Pinter also is a five-time OAC champion and three-time OAC Diver of the Year. She is a three-time Division III Coaches Association Scholar All-American and holds every female diving record at BW and owns both OAC Championship marks. Pinter, who also earned Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District honors three times each, was selected as the OAC Female Swimmer of the Week seven times during her career.

Hamilton graduated with a 3.96 grade average in English. The three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC selection had her best season and averaged a team and career-low 82.71 strokes in 15.5 rounds of 18 holes and registered a career-best 78 strokes in a pair of tournaments.

She also a three-time CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District pick and a three-time NGCA (National Golf Coaches Association) Scholar All-Athlete.  Earlier this spring, Hamilton was tabbed as the OAC Women’s Golfer of the Week. Last season, she was an “Elite 89” finalist and led BW to its second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III National Tournament. She ended her career with an 87.57 stroke average in 42 tournaments and 74.5 rounds of 18 holes.

The duo now give BW three CAPITAL ONE Academic All-Americans this spring, including senior Brendan Toughey (East Amherst, N.Y./St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute) who was the CAPITAL ONE Baseball Academic All-American of the Year. Since the program’s inception in 1970, BW has produced 86 Academic All-Americans, including 20 two-time honorees, one three-time award winner and four Academic All-Americans of the Year.  Those totals are more than any other OAC institution.

“We are extremely pleased for both Julie and Brooke,” said BW Director of Athletics Kris A. Diaz. “Both are outstanding people and student-athletes. They carry on the BW tradition of academic and athletics excellence. We wish both women well in all of their future endeavors and know that they are Yellow Jackets for Life (YJ4L).”
