Women's Golf Leads After First Day of Cardinal-Crusader Invite

NEW ALBANY, OHIO --  The two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and 25th-ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team stands in first place after the first day of the two-day Cardinal-Crusader Invitational co-hosted by Otterbein University and Capital University. The first round was played at the New Albany Links golf course.

BW totaled 324 strokes on the par-72 and 5,551-yard New Albany Links layout. Tomorrow, BW closes out the second day of the invitational at the Westchester Golf Course in Canal Winchester.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by senior 2-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) with a 79. She was followed by, junior 2-time All-OAC player Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Dayton Christian) with an 81, junior two-time All-OAC standout Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) with an 82, senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) was next with an 82, and junior 2-time All-OAC player Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) who fired a 91.

In addition and playing as individuals were freshman Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/ South) who carded a 94 and senior Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) who shot a 110. 

After tomorrow's second and final round, the Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7 when they travel to Wooster to play in the Wooster Invitational at the Wooster Country Club.
