SPRINGFIELD, OHIO --   The two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and 25th-ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team stands fifth today (Saturday, October 13, 2012) after the first day of competition at the annual Wittenberg University "Clash at the Clouse" at the Springfield Country Club. This is the final of five fall tournaments for the BW women during the non-traditional portion of its schedule.

Today, BW totaled 323 strokes to stand fourth of 15 teams on the first day on the par-72 and 5,800-yard Springfield Country Club course. The BW women also have won two straight OAC titles and advanced to the past two NCAA tourneys.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by junior two-time All-OAC player and this week's OAC Women's Golfer of the Week Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Christian) as she fired a 79 and was one stroke off her career-best of 78 which she fired last weekend at Wooster.  Cunningham was tied for low honors by senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) who carded a 79, also one shot off the career-best 78 that she shot two weeks ago at the Otterbein-Capital tourney.

The duo was followed by junior 2-time All-OAC player Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) who shot an 81, junior 2-time All-OAC player Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) with an 84 and senior 2-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) with a 90.

The 2013 spring season begins in March when the BW women head south on its annual Spring Break trip.  The regular season concludes with the annual OAC Championship Tournament with the winning team receiving an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
