BW Women Golfers in 3rd After Day One in Arizona

PEORIA, Ariz. – Senior Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) carded a round of 78 strokes and the Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team stands in third place after the first day of the Phoenix Invitational, hosted by George Fox (Ore.) University, at the par-71 and 5,975-yard Westbrook Country Club in Peoria, Ariz.

In addition to Hamilton, juniors Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Dayton Christian) and junior Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) each tallied 80 strokes, senior senior Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) carded an 82, and junior Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) shot 85.

After the first day of action, George Fox is in first place with a team score of 305.  Washington (Mo.) University is in second place with 311, followed by BW with a 320 team score.  The University of the Redlands (Calif.) is five strokes behind the Yellow Jackets, in fourth place with 325.  Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) College sits in fifth with 330, and St. Mary's (Ind.) College is in sixth with 338.

Competing individually for the Yellow Jackets, freshmen Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/ South) and Sabre Adkins (Dublin/ Coffman) each recorded season-low scores of 84, and senior Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) carded a 104.

The Yellow Jackets will close play at the Phoenix Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, March 16, 2013 with the second round of action.
