No.25 Women’s Golfers Finish Fourth at the “Clash at the Clouse”

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO --   The two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and 25th-ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team finished its fall season today (Sunday, October 14, 2012) by placing fourth of 15 teams at the annual Wittenberg University "Clash at the Clouse" at the Springfield Country Club. This is the final of five fall tournaments for the BW women during the non-traditional portion of its schedule.

Today, BW totaled 339 strokes and when combined with its 323-stroke total from yesterday's first round, it placed fourth of 15 teams on the par-72 and 5,800-yard Springfield Country Club course. Host Wittenberg won the event.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by junior two-time All-OAC player and this week's OAC Women's Golfer of the Week Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Christian) as she fired her second straight round of 79 to finish third individually with a 158-stroke total.  

Next was senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) who carded rounds of 79, one shot off her career-best, on the first day and an 82 today for a 161 total.

The duo was followed by junior 2-time All-OAC player Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) with rounds of 81 and 88 for a 169 total, junior 2-time All-OAC player Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) with rounds of 84 and 90 for a 174 total and senior 2-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) with rounds of 90 and 94 for a 184 total.

In addition and playing as an individuals were junior Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) with rounds of 89 and 87 for a 176 total, freshman Sabre Adkins (Dublin/ Coffman) with rounds of 91 and 98 for a 189 total, freshman Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/ South) with rounds of 90 and 104 for a 194 total and senior Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) with rounds of a season-low 103 and then a 110 for a 213 total.

This fall, the Yellow Jackets won two tournament titles, at the Otterbein-Capital Invitational on September 29-30 and at last weekend's Wooster Invitational, and compiled a 33-8 record. The BW women also have won two straight OAC titles and advanced to the past two NCAA tourneys.

Brooke Hamilton led the team in stroke average as she averaged 83.13 stroke in four events and eight total rounds of 18 holes. She was followed in the Top-5 by Miranda Cunningham at 83.50 for five events, Emilee Woolf at 84.00 in four events, Rebecca Kapusta at 85.00 in five events and Rebecca Jones at 88.50 in five events. This was the same five who participated at last spring's NCAA tourney.

In addition, Sarah Allred averaged 89.75 in four events, Sabre Adkins was at 92.17 in three tourneys, Laura Vidmar at 93.90 in all five events and Sarah Terrill had her best fall season as a collegian and finished at 108.00 in four events.

The 2013 spring season begins in March when the BW women head south on its annual Spring Break trip.  The regular season concludes with the annual OAC Championship Tournament with the winning team receiving an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
