Yellow Jacket Women's Tennis Team Falls to Mercyhurst, 7-2, in Fall Opener

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team dropped its fall season-opener by a score of 7-2 to Division II Mercyhurst (Pa.) College in a match played this afternoon (Sunday, September 13, 2009) at Penn-State Behrend University in Erie, Pa.

The Yellow Jackets are now 0-1 and compete once more this fall at the Oberlin College Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19. Mercyhurst improved to 4-1 with the win.

BW fell behind 2-1 after doubles play with its lone win coming at number three from junior Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/ Green) and sophomore Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) who defeated Mercyhurst's Samantha Zimmerman and Courtney Conway by a score of 8-6.

Junior No. 6 Katy Marshall (Medina/ Senior) picked up the only Yellow Jacket singles win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Natalie Iovino.
