Baldwin Wallace Junior Emily Pelosi Named OAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University junior Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/Green) has been named as the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performance in a key 3-0 week for the Yellow Jackets.

Pelosi and the Yellow Jackets won three matches to run their current win-streak to 12 and clinched their third OAC regular season championship in the past four seasons.

BW defeated defending OAC champion Otterbein College, 5-4, on April 28, then swept Muskingum University and Wilmington College, 9-0, on Friday, Apr. 30 and May 2, respectively.

Pelosi was 3-0 at No. 4 singles without losing a set. In doubles competition, she teamed with junior Katy Marshall (Medina/Senior) for a 1-0 mark and sophomore Jenny Greene (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) for a 2-0 record.

For the season, Pelosi leads the team with a 17-4 overall singles record and is tied for the team lead with 12 doubles wins.

The Yellow Jackets, 16-7 overall, enter this week's OAC Tournament as the top seed and will host eighth-seeded Marietta College in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, May 4.

The OAC Final Four is on Friday and Saturday, May 7-8, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The winner of the OAC Tournament receives the OAC's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
