BEREA, OHIO -- Five members of the 2009-10 Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team were named to the All-OAC team and Head Coach Jack Bethlenfalvy was tabbed as the OAC Coach of the Year.
Junior No. 1 singles player Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/Columbus Bishop Hartley) highlighted BW's player selections with her second straight first-team nod.
In addition, BW had three second-team picks in sophomore No. 2 Jenny Greene (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), freshman No. 3 Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Catholic) and junior No. 4 Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/Green). Also, junior No. 6 Katy Marshall (Medina/Senior) was tabbed as an honorable mention selection.
Bethlenfalvy, who has more wins than any other women's tennis coach in Ohio collegiate history, earns his third Coach of the Year acclaim with a 296-191 career record in 26 seasons.
Pecinovsky earns her third straight all-conference honor with first-team honors this season and last and a second-team selection as a freshman in 2007-08. In 2009-10, she posted a 15-10 overall record competing strictly at the No. 1 position and was 8-1 during OAC play. She also teamed with Mittler to post a 15-13 mark at No. 1 doubles. In three seasons, Pecinovsky posts an overall singles record of 49-32 and a doubles mark of 50-38.
Greene earns her second straight second-team honor. She played all but one of her singles matches at No. 2 and posted a 12-12 overall record with a 7-2 mark in the OAC. Greene also teamed with Pelosi for a 13-11 record at No. 2 doubles.
Mittler was 15-9 overall in her first collegiate season with all but one match at the No. 3 spot. She also went 8-1 during conference play and teamed with Pecinovsky for a 15-13 record at No. 1 doubles.
Pelosi earns her second straight second-team selection. She led BW with an 18-5 singles record at the No. 4 position. She was unbeaten in conference play at 8-0 and teamed with Greene for a 13-11 mark at No. 2 doubles. Pelosi was named the OAC Player of the Week on May 3 and has an overall singles record of 48-25 in three seasons.
Marshall tied for the team lead with 18 wins (18-7 overall) competing mainly at No. 6 and was a part of BW's No. 3 doubles team that was 14-11. She also was undefeated in OAC play at 8-0 and was named OAC Player of the Week on March 29. In three seasons, Marshall has a career singles record of 36-22 and a doubles mark of 48-38.
The Yellow Jackets finished the season at 18-8 overall and won both the OAC regular season and tournament championships. The Yellow Jackets made their third trip to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and have won three of the last four OAC titles.
In the last four years, BW has an outstanding combined record of 74-29.
