Three Yellow Jackets Named to All-Ohio Soccer Teams

BEREA, OHIO – Three Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2012-2013 OCSA (Ohio College Soccer Association) Division III Coaches All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio teams.  Junior defender Elizabeth Helser (Ft. Wayne, Ind./ Canterbury) headlines the list as she was named first-team All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio.

In addition to Helser,   senior midfielder Lindsey Cooper (Westerville/ New Albany) was slected as first-team All-Ohio and as junior defender Kayla Losco (Hopewell Township, Pa./ Hopewell)  was tabbed as first-team Academic All-Ohio.

"We are proud of our exceptional student-athletes," said veteran Head Coach Reid Ayers. "All three have a 3.3 or better grade point average and were leaders on teams with winning records. They are what is great about Division III athletics and the Division III philosophy."

Cooper, a senior pre-physical therapy major with a 3.3 grade point average, is being honored on the All-Ohio squad for the second straight season.  She was one of the top midfielders in the OAC the past three years since transferring to BW from NCAA Division I High Point (N.C.) University. The three-time All-OAC and two-time NSCAA All-Region and All-Ohio pick also earned both Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 honors in 2011-2012. This season, she led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with nine goals and one assist for 19 points. Cooper ended her career with 19 goals and eight assists for 46 points.

Helser, an early childhood and special education major who carries a 3.46 grade average, is an All-Ohio pick for the third straight year and an Academic All-Ohio choice for the first time. The three-time All-OAC selection also made the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region team this fall. She has been a key member of the defense the past three years. This season, Helser and the BW defense allowed just 12 goals in 19 matches and led the OAC with a 0.61 goals-allowed-average. Individually, she took eight shots, scored one goal and had two points. Helser will enter her senior season with three goals and one assist for seven points and the leader of a defense that has recorded 18 shutouts the past three seasons. Helser is a Dean's List student.

Losco, who carries a 3.528 grade average in pre-physical therapy, is being tabbed to the All-Ohio squad for the first time. This fall, she was All-OAC, Academic All-OAC and the Most Valuable Player of the season-opening Penn State Behrend Tournament. She led the OAC in assists with nine and was 13th in scoring with 13 points. She was second on the team in scoring, fourth with 21 shots and tied for fifth with two goals. Losco will enter her senior season in 2013 with seven goals and nine assists for 23 points.

Helser, Cooper and Losco were key members of a BW women's team that finished 12-3-4 overall this season.
