BW Women Soccer Falls In Overtime to Grove City
BEREA, OHIO --   The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team fell in its home opener against Grove City (Pa.) College, 1-0 in overtime, today (Saturday, September 15, 2012) on the Tressel Field at the George Finnie Stadium.
With its loss, BW suffered its first lost on the season and now has a record of 3-1-3 overall. Grove City improves to 4-0-1 overall.
 The two teams battled to a scoreless tie after regulation.  The Yellow Jackets had four shots in the first half and seven in the second for 11 total and the Wolverines had four in each half for a total of eight.
Grove City won the game just 1:07 in to the overtime session when Abby Mathes found the back of the net off the cross from Holly Spofford at the 91:03 mark.

Freshman goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview Pa.) suffered her first loss of the season as she faced 11 Wolverine shots, including six on-goal, allowed the lone goal and made five saves in 91 minutes of action.
Grove City netminder Kristi Lathrop faced nine BW shots, including five on-goal, and made five saves.
 
In the game, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Wolverines, 11-9, and the corner kick battle was tied at 4-4. 

The BW women travel to Cleveland on Wednesday, September 19 for a non-conference clash with Spartans of Case Western Reserve University at 7:30 p.m.  The next home game is on Saturday, September 22 when the team hosts Westminster (Pa.) College in the first game of a women's and men's non-conference doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.  The men kickoff at 3:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, October 9, the Yellow Jacket men's and women's soccer teams will host Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg University in a doubleheader that will be televised by SportsTime Ohio (STO).  This is the fifth straight year that BW has televised a soccer doubleheader and will put a 7-1 combined record on the line, including a 4-0 mark by the women.
