WOOSTER, OHIO -- Freshman goalie Emily Tallmadge (Fairview Park/ Fairview) earned her third career shutout in her first four collegiate matches as the Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team tied host The College of Wooster, 0-0 in double overtime, today (Friday, September 7, 2012) in the first game of the Wooster Invitational on Carl Dale Field.
With its tie, BW is 2-0-2 overall and plays Earlham (Ind.) College in its final game at Wooster tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. Wooster is 3-0-1 overall and plays fourth-ranked Ohio Northern University at 9:00 a.m.
Tallmadge faced 11 Wooster shots, including six on-goal, and had six saves. She improves to 2-0-2 this season with three shutouts. Wooster netminder senior Michele Ring faced 14 BW shots, including 11 on-goal, and made four saves
In the game, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Scotties, 14-11, but Wooster won the corner kick battle, 4-3.
Following tomorrow's game against Earlham, the Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 12 when they travel to Hiram, Ohio to play traditional rival Hiram College at 7:00 p.m. The BW women open their 2012 home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 15 against Grove City (Pa.) College at 3:30 p.m. in the nightcap of a men's and women's doubleheader.
On Tuesday, October 9, the Yellow Jacket men's and women's soccer teams will host Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg University in a doubleheader that will be televised by SportsTime Ohio (STO). This is the fifth straight year that BW has televised a soccer doubleheader and will put a 7-1 combined record on the line, including a 4-0 mark by the women.
