Trivisonno Nets Two to Push BW Past Case, 4-2

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer defeated Case Western Reserve University, 4-2, in a non-conference clash at Case Field.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improved to 4-1-3 overall.  Case is now 3-2-2

In the first half, the Spartans opened the scoring when Jessie Sabers followed the save by freshman Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) and put into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead at the 6:52 mark. 

BW knotted the game back up at 1-1, when freshman forward Cheryl Bell (Piqua) took the cross from freshman forward Audrie Wolfe (Hilliard/Darby) and headed it in at 13:57.   It marked the third goal of the season for Bell and the second assist for Wolfe.

Case regained the lead when Rachel Bourque scored the goal on a penalty kick at the 20:51 mark.

The Yellow Jackets tied the game at 2-2, when senior forward Lindsey Cooper (Westerville/New Albany) took the free kick from junior midfielder Kayla Losco (Hopewell Twp., Pa./Hopewell) to score the tying goal at 35:44.

In the second half, BW took its first lead of the game at 3-2 just 1:15 into the period, when junior forward Kari Trivisonno (Mentor) scored her first goal of the season off the assist from Bell at 46:15.  The Yellow Jackets extended its lead to 4-2, when Cooper scored her second goal of the match on header off the cross from junior midfielder Rachel Gokey (Seville/Cloverleaf) at the 68:32 mark.  The goal for Cooper was her team-leading fifth.

Tallmadge, who improved to 4-1-3 overall, faced 16 Spartan shots, including 12 on-goal, allowed two goals and made 10 saves in 90 minutes of action. Case netminder Cameron Casson faced 10 Yellow Jacket shots, including seven on-goal, allowed four goals and made three saves in 90 minutes.

In the game, the Spartans outshot BW, 16-10, and won the corner kick battle, 5-3.

The team next plays this Saturday, September 22 when it hosts Westminster (Pa.) College in the first game of a women's and men's non-conference doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. The men kickoff at 3:00 p.m.
