BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team tied cross-town rival John Carroll University, 0-0, in double overtime in an Ohio Athletic Conference match on the Tressel Field turf at The George Finnie Stadium.
With the tie, the Yellow Jackets, ranked ninth in this week's NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Division III Great Lakes Region poll, move to 9-3-4 overall and 3-2-1 in the OAC. With the tie, the Blue Streaks move to 8-5-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the OAC.
In the first half, both teams battled to a scoreless tie. The BW outshot John Carroll, 5-4.
In the second half, both teams were still in a scoreless tie. The Blue Streaks outshot the Yellow Jackets, 4-1. The teams then played two 10-minute overtime sessions without either team scoring.
In net for BW, freshman goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) faced nine John Carroll shots, including five on-goal, allowed no goals and made five saves in 110:00 minutes of action. She improved to 9-3-4 overall. The Blue Streaks goaltender Haley McDonald faced eight Yellow Jacket shots, including two on-goal, allowed no goals and made two saves in 110:00 minutes of action.
In the match, John Carroll outshot BW, 9-8, and the Yellow Jackets won the corner kick battle, 4-1.
BW closes out the home portion of its regular season schedule this Saturday, October 20 when it plays host to Capital University in the first game of a women's and men's OAC and Seniors' and Parents' Day doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. The Yellow Jacket men play at 7:00 p.m.
