Two Women's Golfers Selected to Academic All-OAC Team

BEREA, OHIO -- Junior Division III "Elite 89" nominee  Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) and junior Rebecca Kapusta (Independence)  have been selected on this year's Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams.  This is the second straight year that Hamilton and Kapusta have received this award.

Student-athletes are nominated and selected by the Faculty Athletics Representatives of each school.  To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.25 grade point average, be a starter or key reserve who has appeared in more than half of his/ her teams games/ events.

Hamilton, who carries a 3.95 grade average in English and philosophy, was an "Elite 89" nominee at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Golf Championships where she led the Yellow Jackets to a 16th-place finish. The 2-time All-OAC selection played in seven spring tournaments and averaged 85.71 strokes in 14 rounds of 18 holes, including tying her career-low of 79 twice at the Div. III National Tournament (third and fourth rounds). Hamilton, who is a member of four honor societies, is the receipient of three academic scholarships and serves as a team captain, helped B-W capture its second straight OAC title and make its fourth Div. III national tourney appearance since 2000. She also is a Jacket Scholar, a 2-time CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District choice and a 2011 Women's Golf Coaches Association Scholar All-American.

Kapusta, a special education major who carries a 3.87 grade point average, joined Hamilton on this year's team that won the OAC title and qualified for the NCAA Div. III Tournament. She was the No.3 player and averaged 86.6 strokes this season and en route to her second straight All-OAC and second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor. She highlighted her season by shooting a career-low 77 at the Trine (Ind.) University Tournament to earned medalist honors and received OAC Player of the Week honors in March. In the classroom, Kapusta is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies, served as a lead fundraiser for the B-W Dance Marathon to benefit the Glaser Foundation for Pediatric Aids, won a Leadership Award this spring that was sponsored by Student-Athlete Services, participates in the Newman Center Student Ministry, is a Student Ambassador for the admission office and is involved with the B-W Chapter of Circle K International.
