OSTRANDER, OHIO --The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin-Wallace College women's golf team finished third of 15 teams today (Sunday, April 15, 2012) on the final day of competition at the annual Ohio Wesleyan University Laura Bump Invitational Tournament at the Mill Creek Golf Course.

The Yellow Jackets totalled 336 strokes on the second day and combined with its first day total of 338 strokes had 674 total strokes on the par-72 and 6,005-yard Mill Creek G.C. layout to place third.  Nationally-ranked Allegheny Pa.) College won the team title with 663 strokes.

In team play (each team has five golfers and the top four scores count toward the team total), junior Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) led the way and tied for third individually as she fired rounds of 83 and 79 for a two-day and 36-hole total of 162 strokes.  She was followed by sophomore Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) with rounds of 84 and 83 for a 167 total and sophomore Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Christian) with rounds of 86 and 81 for a 167 total as each student-athlete tied for 14th.  Junior Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) was tied for 41st with rounds of 85 and 93 for a 178 total and sophomore Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) rounded out the team totals with rounds of 97 and 94 for 191 total strokes.

Individually, sophomore Sarah Allred(Akron/ Green) tied for 34th individually as she shot rounds of  92 and 83 for 175 strokes.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday, April 20 when they travel to Angola, Indiana to compete at the Trine University Spring Invitational at the Zollner Golf Course.  The final regular season event is the 2012 OAC Championship Tournament, hosted by Capital University, on April 28-29 at the Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne, Ohio.

A year ago, the B-W women's golf team fashioned an 83-18 overall record, won five tournament titles, including the 2011 OAC title, and placed 15th at the NCAA Division III National Tournament.  The Yellow Jackets have advanced to the Division III National Tournament three times during its 12-year existence.
