Women's Golf Team In Lead After First Round of Heidelberg Fall Invitational

TIFFIN, OHIO --
The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin-Wallace College women's golf team leads after the first day (Saturday, September 24, 2011) of the Heidelberg University Fall Invitational at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club. The final round is tomorrow.

B-W shot its best round of the fall and totalled 336 strokes on the par-72 and 6,685-yard Mohawk C.C. Layout to lead second place Ohio Northern University by 44 strokes. Nine teams are participating. This is the third of five fall tournaments for the Yellow Jackets.

Leading the way was sophomore Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Christian) who leads the tourney with a top first round individual score of 80, including a one-under-par 35 on the front nine holes. Following her are sophomore Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) with an 82, sophomore Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) with an 85 and juniors Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) and Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) with an 89 and 90, respectively. The top five B-W golfers all placed in the top nine overall on the first day. Woolf is tied for second, Jones is fifth, Kapusta is tied for seventh and Hamilton is ninth.


Playing as individuals, sophomore Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) had a 97 and is tied for 18th and junior Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Christian Academy) had a 122 to stand 37th.


The Yellow Jackets are next in action on Sunday and Monday, October 2-3 when they travel to Meadville, pennyslvania to take part in the Allegheny College Fall Invitational at the Country Club of Meadville. B-W will conclue the fall portion of its schedule on Saturday and Sunday October 8-9 when it travels to Springfield to compete in the Wittenberg University Clash at the Clouse at the Windky Knoll Golf Course.
