ANGOLA, INDIANA -- Junior Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) earned medalist honors as the Baldwin-Wallace College women's golf team captured the team title today (Friday, April 20, 2012) at the annual Trine (Ind.) University Spring Classic at the Zollner Golf Course.

The Yellow Jackets totaled 331 strokes to capture the team title on the par-72 and 5, 963-yard Zollner layout.  B-W finished 41 strokes ahead (372) of second place Hope (Mich.) College and 46 strokes ahead (377) of third place host Trine.

In team play (each team has five golfers and the top four scores count toward the team total), Kapusta led the way as she fired a career-low 77. She was followed by sophomore Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/Dayton Christian) who carded a round of 82 to finish tied for second individually.  Sophomore Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) fired a round of 83 to place fourth and junior Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/St. Joseph's Academy) carded a round of 89 to finish tied for  sixth. Sophomore Sarah Allred (Akron/Green) rounded out the team scoring with a round of 93.

Individually, sophomore Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/Darby) shot a round of 85.

The Yellow Jackets end the regular season at the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Tournament hosted by Capital University on Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29 at the Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne. The winner of the OAC Tournament qualifies for the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Trine University

A year ago, the B-W women's golf team fashioned an 83-18 overall record, won five tournament titles, including the 2011 OAC title, and placed 15th at the NCAA Division III National Tournament.  The Yellow Jackets have advanced to the Division III National Tournament three times during its 12-year existence.
