BEREA, Ohio – Junior forward Matt Dennis (Spring Hill, Fla./Nature Coast Technical) recorded his second career double-double with a career-high 21 points and a game-high 12 rebounds rebounds as the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team defeated Muskingum University, 89-73, today in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (8-7, 4-4 OAC) has now won five straight against Muskingum (7-8, 2-6 OAC). 

 
In addition to Dennis for the Yellow Jackets, senior three-time All-OAC  power forward Kyle Payne (Brunswick) recorded his fifth career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds and junior point guard Jaron Crowe (Mentor) scored 20 points and dished out a game-high tying four assists.  Payne now has 1,404 career points to stand in 12th place all-time and senior All-OAC guard Kevin Krakowiak (Valley City/Holy Name) stands in 19th place with 1,162 career
 
Muskingum was led by junior forward Logan Kimble with a game-high tying 21 points. Senior guard Dave Brown tallied 16 points, senior guard Isaiah Shakespeare contributed 11 and sophomore center Cody Seiler added 10.
 
Muskingum opened the game on a 5-2 when freshman guard Nicholas Warnement knocked down a jumper with 18:33 remaining.   BW responded with a 14-0 run to take a 16-5 lead when Dennis scored on a fast break layup at the 14:38 mark.
 
After a bucket by the Fighting Muskies, the Yellow Jackets responded with a 7-0 run to take a 23-7 advantage on a trey by senior forward Skyler Simpson (Centerburg) with 11:07 left.  Muskingum responded with a 12-9 run to cut the lead down to 32-19 when Kimble scored on a layup at 6:34.
 
The Fighting Muskies would outscore BW 16-14 over the remainder of the half but trailed 46-35 at the intermission
 
Muskingum opened the second half on a 4-0 to cut the lead down to 46-39 on a jumper by Seiler with 18:46 remaining.  The Yellow Jackets responded with a 6-0 run of their own to push the lead to 52-39 on a pair of free throws by senior forward Tyler Ferrell (Brunswick) at the 16:24 mark.
 
The Fighting Muskies went on a 12-7 run to cut the lead down to 59-51 on a layup by Seiler with 12:23 left to play. Muskingum got to within eight points once again at 67-59 on a triple from Kimble at 8:53.  The Fighting Muskies would come no closer as BW outscored Muskingum 22-14 the remainder of the game to secure the 89-73 victory.
 
 The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, January 22 when they host Heidelberg University in an OAC game in the Ursprung Gym at 7:30 p.m.
