BW Men’s Tennis Remains Undefeated with Pair of Non-Conference Victories

DAYTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis won a pair of non-conference matches against Wittenberg University and Earlham (Ind.) College at the Dayton Center Courts.

BW (6-0) opened the day with a 9-0 shutout victory against Wittenberg.   The Yellow Jackets closed out the day with a 6-3 victory against Earlham (Ind.) College.

Against Wittenberg, BW gained a 3-0 advantage after doubles plays.  Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC player Peter Harris (Akron/Revere) and senior All-OAC player Doug Ganim (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) won at first doubles by a score of 8-5.  Senior All-OAC player Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) and freshman Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) won at second doubles by a score of 8-1.  Senior Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) and freshman Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) won at third doubles by a score of 8-2.

In singles play, the Yellow Jackets won all six matches to complete the shutout.   Peter Harris won at first singles by identical scores of 6-1.  Ganim won at second singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2.  Patterson won at third singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Polifrone won at fourth singles by identical scores of 6-0. Junior Nathan Katz (Bexley/Upper Arlington) won at fifth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Junior Jake Liebler (Medina) won at sixth singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-1.

Against Earlham, BW won one of two doubles matches as the team of Patterson and Polifrone won by a score of 8-5.

In singles action, the Yellow Jackets rallied to win five of six matches.  Peter Harris won at first singles by scores of 4-6, 6-0 and 7-5.  Ganim won at second singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2.  Patterson won at third singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-4.  Polifrone won at fourth singles by scores of 5-7, 6-2 and 7-5.  Katz won at fifth singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.

The Yellow Jackets are now idle until their annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.   BW opens the trip with a pair of matches against Arcadia (Pa.) University and Roanoke (Va.) College at the Hilton Head Tennis Center.  The match with Arcadia is at 8:30 a.m. and the match with Roanoke is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
