Men’s Tennis Loses to No. 7 CWRU in Regular Season Finale

CLEVELAND – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team completed the regular season portion of its schedule with a 9-0 loss of seventh-nationally ranked and cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University on the Carleton Courts.

BW (22-4) lost all three double matches against the Spartans (21-7). The best result was the No.2 doubles tandem of Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) and freshman Matt Harris (Akron/ Revere) who lost by a score of 8-4.

In singles action, the Yellow Jackets lost all six matches. The best result was All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC standout Doug Ganim (Westerville/ Olentangy Orange) who lost at No.2 by scores of 6-2, 4-6 and 10-6. Despite the loss, Ganim remains sixth all-time at BW in career wins with 84.

BW, the No.2-seed, is back in action on Wednesday, May 4 when it hosts an OAC Tournament quarterfinal match against the No.7-seeded Heidelberg University Student Princes on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets, are seeking their fifth OAC Tournament Championship.

The OAC Tournament semifinal and championship matches will be played on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at the Linder Tennis Family Center in Mason, Ohio.  Friday's semifinal match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and the championship match will be contested at 2 p.m.
