Peter Harris Garners Third Career OAC Men’s Tennis Weekly Honor

 

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC standout Peter Harris (Akron/Revere) has been selected as the OAC Men's Tennis Player-of-the-Week.

Harris
, who earns his third career weekly honor and second of the season, was a perfect 3-0 in singles action and was 2-1 in doubles plays in BW's three OAC matches last week.  He won his singles match against his Ohio Northern University opponent by scores of 6-1 and 6-2 on Tuesday, defeated his Capital University opponent by identical scores of 6-1 and closed out the week with a hard-fought three set victory against his John Carroll University opponent by scores of 7-5, 2-6 and 10-8.   The match against John Carroll featured the last two OAC Players-of-the-Year as Harris is the defending player-of-the-year.  

This season, Harris is an impressive 27-3 at first singles and he has not lost a singles match during the spring portion of the schedule.  Harris and his four-year partner in senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Doug Ganim (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) are 22-5 at first doubles.

For his career, Harris ranks fourth all-time in school history with a career record of 91-17.  He trails teammate Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway), who was the OAC Player-of-the-Week last week, by one victory for third place.   Harris is tied for third all-time along with Ganim in doubles victories with a record of 86-22. The 177 combined singles and doubles victories have him ranked third in school history.

BW is back in action on Tuesday, April 26 when it travels to Cleveland for a non-conference match against NCAA Division I Cleveland State University inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion at 7 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season on Saturday, April 30 when they travel to Cleveland for a non-conference match against cross-town rival and sixth-nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University on the Carlton Courts at 9 a.m.

BW will enter the OAC Tournament as the second-seed and will host a quarterfinal match on Wednesday, May 4 at 3:30 p.m.   The semifinal and championship matches will be played on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at the Linder Tennis Family Center in Mason.  Friday's semifinal match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and the championship match will be contested at 2 p.m.
