Men’s Tennis Defeats Heidelberg for 10th Straight Time

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis won its seventh straight match and its third consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference matchup as it defeated Heidelberg University on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

BW (18-1, 3-0 OAC), who played its first home outdoor match of the season, remains atop the OAC standings.  The Yellow Jackets have now won the the last 10 meetings against Heidelberg (2-6, 0-2 OAC).
 

BW won all three doubles matches to take the early 3-0 lead.  Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC standout Peter Harris (Akron/Revere) and senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Doug Ganim (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) improved to 18-4 at first singles with an 8-0 victory.   Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) and freshman Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) won at second doubles by a score of 8-5 and are now a team-best 19-5 on the season   Senior Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) and freshman Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) took third doubles by a score of 8-2 and upped their record to 12-3 this season.

In singles action, the Yellow Jackets won all six matches to secure the victory. Peter Harris won first singles by identical scores of 6-1 and now is 22-3 on the season.   Ganim took number two by scores of 6-0 and 6-1 to improve to 18-2 this season.  Patterson netted a win at number three by scores of 6-2 and 6-0 as he improved to 22-1 on the season. Polifrone posted a 6-2 and 6-0 victory at number four to up his record to 21-1 this year.  Junior Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) kept his undefeated season alive as he improved to 19-0 at number singles with a win by identical scores of 6-1.   Junior Jake Liebler (Medina) secured number six single by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 to improve to 12-4 on the year.
 

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 16 when it travels to Mason for two OAC matches against Marietta College and Muskingum University at the Linder Family Tennis Center.   The Yellow Jackets will first take on Marietta at 11 a.m. and then will close out the day with a 5 p.m. match against Muskingum.  The next home match is on Saturday, April 23 when BW hosts an OAC match against Capital University on the Collins Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
