Peter Harris Leads BW Men’s Tennis Team at ITA Regional Championships

ST. LOUIS, Missouri – Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC number one singles player Peter Harris (Akron/Revere) finished fourth to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional Championships hosted by Washington University.

Peter Harris posted a record of 5-2 during the championships and finished in fourth place.  He lost his first match of the tournament to David Liu of the University of Chicago, who was the 18th seeded player in the tournament, by scores of 6-2 and 7-5.  Peter Harris then ran off an impressive five straight victories, which put him in the consolation final against Michael Liu of Kenyon College.   He dropped the match to Liu in straight sets by identical scores of 6-4 and 6-4. 

In addition to Peter Harris, senior All-OAC number three player Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) earned two victories and senior All-OAC number two player Doug Ganim (Westerville/Olentangy Orange) picked up a victory.

In doubles action, the number one tandem of Peter Harris and Ganim, the number two team of Patterson and freshman Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and the number three duo of junior Academic All-OAC player Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) and junior Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete Jake Liebler (Medina) all picked up one victory.

BW ended the fall portion of its schedule with a dual record match of 2-0.   The Yellow Jackets return to action and open the spring portion of their schedule on Saturday, February 13 when they hosts a pair of non-conference dual matches at the North Ridge Racquet Club against Franciscan University and Penn State Behrend University at 5 and 8 pm, respectively.
