Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Wilmington in Road Match

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team faced Wilmington College for an OAC matchup inside Fred Raizk Arena. The Yellow Jackets grabbed the victory over the Quakers in three straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 25-23. 

BW (17-9, 3-4 OAC) earned quick wins in set one and set two over WC (3-22, 0-7 OAC). The Quaker battled with the Yellow Jackets in set three as the two teams tied the game four times and exchanged a few lead changes. With WC leading 23-21 late in set three, BW rattled off the next four points to claim the set (25-23) and the match.

The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior All-OAC performer and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Cecelia Hamisch (Union/Northmont) who totaled 11 kills for BW. Senior First Team All-OAC performer and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) tallied eight kills (.375), notching two of the final four points to win the match in set three.

Freshman setter Lauren Reid (Canonsburg, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) dished out 36 assists and added eight digs and two kills. Earning double-digit digs were freshman libero Lauren Gardner (Avon/Saint Joseph Academy) with 14, senior defensive specialist Angela Dunn (Fairview Park/Fairview) with 11, and senior Academic All-OAC defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) with 11. Martin also added three service aces. 

BW hit .265 as a team in the match. The Yellow Jackets outperformed the Quakers in kills (42-23), digs (52-39), assists (41-23), and service aces (7-2).

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, October 27 when BW hosts the University of Mount Union for Senior Day inside the Lou Higgins Center. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. for the last regular season home match.
