Three Women’s Volleyball Players Earn All-OAC Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Three Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball student-athletes have been named to the 2021 All-Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Volleyball team.

Senior outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) and freshman libero Lauren Gardner (Avon/Saint Joseph Academy) were second-team honorees. Senior outside hitter Cecelia Hamisch (Union/Northmont) was named an honorable mention selection.

Earl notches her second-straight and third total accolade after garnering first-team honors a season ago and being named a second-team selection after the 2018 fall season. This season, Earl appeared in 28 matched for the Yellow Jackets. She led the team and was second in the OAC in kills per set (3.60). She also was second on the team and fourth in the OAC in total kills (346). Earl was also a key defensive player for BW, tallying 321 total digs (third on the team). She was tabbed as OAC Defensive Player of the Week this year on September 27 and has two Offensive Player of the Week awards in her tenure to go along with it.

In her career, Earl appeared in 108 matches and 371 sets. On October 6, against #14 Ohio Northern University, Earl notched her 1,000th kill. On October 6, she also surpassed the 1,000th dig mark, being just the fifth player in BW history to reach 1,000 total kills and 1,000 total digs. Earl also moved her way up to the eighth spot on BW's all-time kill list, finishing her career with 1,143 total kills. She has also totaled 1,027 digs, 120 aces, 74 blocks, and 65 assists in her career as a Yellow Jacket. Off the court, Earl is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries.

Gardner garners first All-OAC accolade after her standout freshman season. She appeared in 29 matches and 107 sets. Gardner led the team and was second in the OAC in total digs, tallying 535 in her first season at BW. She also averaged 5.00 digs per set, sixth in the OAC. Gardner earned OAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this year, on October 18 and October 4.

Gardner notched her career and season-high of 37 digs in the five-set win over Westminster College on September 11. She was second on the team in assists, posting 91, and added 33 service aces.

Hamisch earns her second-straight All-OAC accolade after receiving All-OAC honorable mention last season. This season, Hamisch led the team and was second in the OAC in kills, posting a 351 total. She averaged 3.38 kills per set which was second on the team and fourth in the OAC. In her career, Hamisch has appeared in 87 matches and 267 sets, totaling 785 kills, 152 digs, and 49 blocks.

She notched her career-high of 21 kills in the last match of her career on October 30 in the five-set win over Ohio Wesleyan University. Off the court, Hamisch is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

These three student-athletes helped BW to a 19-10 overall record and 4-5 in the OAC. BW congratulates Earl and Hamisch for concluding their careers as Yellow Jackets.
