Women’s Volleyball Selected Fourth in OAC Coaches’ Poll

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth by the coaches in the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference preseason poll.

BW was tabbed as the fourth-place finisher with 51 votes. Otterbein, who finished second in the conference standings last season, was selected first with 78 points and six first-place votes. Muskingum follows the Cardinals in second with 74 points and the other four first place votes The Yellow Jackets follow Ohio Northern in third with 67 points, and just in front of Marietta with 48 votes to round out the projected top five teams.

BW, who finished fourth in the regular season last spring with a 14-6 overall record and 13-5 in OAC play, returns nine letterwinners, two All-OAC performers and four starters. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinals for the third straight season 

"We're excited to be back and have a full schedule this year," said third-year head coach Kacie Ehinger.  "We graduated some big shoes to fill, but I'm excited about the progress our returners have made and the addition of some talented newcomers. The returners have done an excellent job being leaders early on in preseason and I look forward to taking the floor together on September 1."

BW opens the season in a non-conference matchup against Franciscan University in Steubenville on September 1. The Yellow Jackets then travel to the University Mount Union Invitational on September 3 and 4 to face Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) University, Geneseo (N.Y.) University, Brockport (N.Y.) University, and The College Wooster. BW plays its home opener on September 7 against Thiel (Pa.) College in a non-conference match in Ursprung Gymnasium.
