WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University freshman libero Lauren Gardner (Cleveland/Saint Joseph) notches first career OAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award.

Last week, she helped BW to a 1-1 record against two OAC opponents (Otterbein University and Capital University). Gardner totaled 39 digs for a 6.50 digs per set average and added seven assists and four service aces.

In the 3-0 sweep of Capital, Gardner totaled 21 digs, which is her fifth match this season with a 20+ dig total. She is ranked third in the OAC in total digs with a 311 total.

Gardner has played in all 19 matches this year for BW and has had 15 double-digit dig totals of those 19. Gardner garnered her career-high of 37 digs on September 11 in the win vs Westminster College (Pa.).

She is first on team in digs and first in digs per set (4.51). She also has totaled 50 assists (second on the team) and 27 service aces (third on the team).

The women's volleyball team is back in action tomorrow as the Yellow Jackets travel to #13 Ohio Northern University to compete in a huge OAC matchup. First service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the ONU Sports Center.
