Women’s Volleyball Falls to Muskingum in Brain Cancer Awareness Match

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team hosted Muskingum University at the Lou Higgins Center in Ursprung Gymnasium for the Brain Cancer Awareness Match. The Yellow Jackets dropped in three sets to the Fighting Muskies by set score of 25-15, 26-24, and 25-16.

BW (16-8, 2-3 OAC) suffered from errors early on from the service line and on the offensive end, hitting just positive as a team. Muskingum (12-9, 3-2 OAC) finished the match hitting .198 and posted 32 team kills.

The Yellow Jackets were led on the defensive end by freshman libero Lauren Gardner (Cleveland/Saint Joseph) who tallied a remarkable 29 dig total in the three-set loss. Senior First Team All-OAC performer and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) posted nine digs and eight kills.

Senior All-OAC performer and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Cecelia Hamisch (Union/Northmont) notched nine kills for BW. Junior Academic All-OAC middle hitter Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South) finished the match with seven kills and three total blocks.

Senior Academic All-OAC defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) had eight digs in today's contest while senior defensive specialist Angela Dunn (Fairview Park/Fairview) added seven digs. Freshman setter Lauren Reid (Canonsburg, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) dished out 25 assists for the Yellow Jackets.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, October 20 as the Yellow Jackets host crosstown and OAC rival John Carroll University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
