Women’s Volleyball Drops Two to Conclude Mount Union Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball fell in three sets to The College at Brockport (N.Y.) and The College of Wooster to conclude the Mount Union Invitational on Saturday, September 4 to drop to 2-3 overall.

Match 1

BW faced a challenging offense in Brockport, dropping the first set to the Golden Eagles, 25-10. Getting their footing back, the Yellow Jackets fought hard in the second set, tallying 10 kills and only falling in set two 25-23.

The Yellow Jackets dropped another tough set in the third, falling just short (28-26). BW totaled 12 kills in set three. The Golden Eagles move to 2-1 overall after the win.

Cecelia Hamisch led BW offensively, tallying nine kills. Lauren Gardner earned double-digit digs, posting a 16 total. Lauren Reid dished out 21 assists and added six digs. Sam Rueda totaled six kills and seven digs for BW.

Match 2

The second non-conference opponent of the day, Wooster, took the first two sets by 25-16 scores. BW battled with the Fighting Scots in the third set, sharing 17 ties, before dropping by a 25-23. Wooster improves to 2-2 on the year overall.

Hamisch finished with 10 kills while Nicole Logan totaled six and hit .286. Gardner earned her fourth match in a row with double-digit digs, recording an 11 total. Reid posted 25 assists and four service aces.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, September 7 as BW hosts Thiel College (Pa.) for the 2021 fall home opener. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium.
