BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team (15-4) was on the road to face Capital University (3-8) in a big OAC matchup at the Capital Center in Performance Arena. The Yellow Jackets topped the Capital Comets in straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-23.
BW outperformed the Comets on the offensive end. The Yellow Jackets earned the advantage over Capital in kills (40-32), assists (38-29), and service aces (7-2). From the defensive end, BW notched 55 digs and tallied six team blocks.
Leading the Yellow Jackets was both senior All-OAC performer and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Cecelia Hamisch (Union/Northmont) and senior First Team All-OAC performer and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) who finished with 12 kills each. Earl notched a double-double by also totaling 11 digs.
Freshman setter Lauren Reid (Canonsburg, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) tallied 31 assists, six digs, two kills, and two service aces. Freshman libero Lauren Gardner (Cleveland/Saint Joseph) finished with 14 digs and four assists. Freshman right side hitter Allison Weiner (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) added seven kills for the Yellow Jackets.
BW returns to play on Wednesday, October 6 as the Yellow Jackets travel to the ONU Sports Center to take on Ohio Northern University in another OAC showdown. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
