Volleyball Extends Winning Streak with Victory Over Wilmington

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team continued Ohio Athletic Conference play with a match against Wilmington College inside Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center.

Extending their win streak to two, BW (25-3 , 5-2 OAC) defeated Wilmington (6-19, 0-7 OAC)in straight sets, 25-9, 25-19, 25-9.

Kills came by committee for the Yellow Jackets, but sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) led the way with 10, at a .692 hitting percentage. Setting the offense in motion was sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) and senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield), who had 22 and 19 assists respectively. Sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) tied her career best with four service aces to put the Quakers back on their heels.

Reinhard protected the floor with 18 digs to lead BW. Six different Yellow Jackets recorded one assisted block. Of that group was freshman utility player Sam Pruett (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley), sophomore middle hitter Jessica Whitehead (Wyoming, Mich./Wyoming), sophomore utility player Alexis Garrett (Mentor), freshman utility player Morgan Mellinger (Akron/St. Vincent St. Mary), freshman outside hitter Mary Zurbrugg (Alliance), and Brown.

The Yellow Jackets hit the road one last time for the season when they travel to Alliance, Ohio to square off against the University of Mount Union on Tuesday, October 23. Match is set to be served up at 7 p.m.
