Nine Volleyball Student-Athletes Chosen to Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Nine Baldwin Wallace University volleyball student-athletes have been chosen to the 2018 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA. 

Senior All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk), junior All-OAC outside hitter Allyson Smith (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit), sophomore utility player Alexis Garrett (Mentor), sophomore defensive specialist Emily Moser (Durham, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons), sophomore All-OAC defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South), sophomore defensive specialist Sydni Colchagoff (Findlay/Liberty-Benton), sophomore middle/right side hitter Allison May (Louisville/St. Thomas Aquinas), sophomore middle/right side hitter Kail Nicholas (Milwaukee, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) and sophomore setter/utility player Sam Pruett (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) are nine of the 54 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this fall.

Lortcher, who earns her second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a communications sciences and disorders major who carries a 3.58 GPA. Academically, she is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. On the court, she is a two-time All-OAC selection, a two-time OAC Player of the Week honoree and a five-time All-Tournament team selection along with being the 15th player with 1,000 digs and 10th player with 1,000 kills in school history. For her career, Lortcher appeared in 119 matches and recorded 1,315 kills, 1,429 digs, 140 blocks and 111 service aces. 

Smith, who garners her first career Academic All-OAC accolade, is a communications sciences and disorders major who carries a 3.51 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. In her career, Smith is an All-OAC player and has appeared in 61 matches with 467 kills, 118 digs, 41 blocks and 13 service aces.

Garrett, who is named to her first Academic All-OAC team, is a pre-physical therapy and exercise science double major who carries a 3.52 GPA. A Dean's List student, Garrett has appeared in 58 matches in her career and has totaled 230 kills, 61 digs, 45 blocks and 31 service aces.

Moser, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a sport management major who carries a 3.57 GPA. Academically, she is a Dean's List student. For her career, Moser has appeared in 31 matches and has recorded 87 digs, 15 service aces and five assists.

Reinhard, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is an athletic training and pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.58 GPA. She is a Dean's List student. On the court, she is an All-OAC honorable mention selection and an All-Greyhound Invitational Tournament team selection. In her two-year career, Reinhard has appeared in 63 matches and has recorded 988 digs, 126 assists and 59 service aces.

Colchagoff, who is named to her first Academic All-OAC team, is a public health major who carries a 3.66 GPA. A Dean's List student, Colchagoff has appeared in 31 matches and has totaled 112 digs, 12 service aces and nine assists. 

May, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy and athletic training double major who carries a 3.88 GPA. Academically, she is a Dean's List student. For her career, May has appeared in 17 matches and has recorded 29 kills, eight digs, 14 blocks and eight service aces.

Nicholas, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a psychology and national security double major who carries a 3.89 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and a member of the BW track and field team. In her career, Nicholas has appeared in 23 matches and tallied 44 kills, 29 blocks and four digs.

Pruett, who is named to her first Academic All-OAC team, is a mathematics major who carries a 3.94 GPA. A Dean's List student, Pruett has appeared in 51 matches in her career and has totaled 183 kills, 134 digs, 55 assists, 14 blocks and seven service aces.
