Volleyball Bounces Back with an OAC Victory

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Bouncing back from a tough loss over the weekend to Muskingum University, the Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team got back on track with an Ohio Athletic Conference victory over crosstown rival John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

BW (24-3, 4-2 OAC) defeated John Carroll (14-11, 1-5 OAC( in straight sets by scores of of 25-20, 25-18, 25-17.

Freshman outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell) led the offensive attack with 14 kills. Also reaching double digit kills with 10, was senior three-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) and sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights). Brown attained her kills at a remarkable .600 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) and senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) combined for 39 of the Yellow Jackets 45 assists. Egan, Earl, and freshman defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) each recorded a service ace.

Sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) covered the floor with a team leading 14 digs. Lortcher tallied 10 digs as well to solidify the BW defense. Defending the net with three assisted blocks was Brown.  

BW's next match will be a home game against OAC foe, Wilmington University, on Saturday October 20, at 1 p.m.
