HIRAM, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team defeated Thiel (Pa.) College on Tuesday, in a non-conference matchup at Price Gymnasium.

Leading the Yellow Jackets (18-1) offense was freshman outside hitter Mary Zurbrugg (Alliance) and freshman utility player Morgan Mellinger (Akron/St. Vincent St. Mary), who had 11 and 10 kills respectively. Senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) was the catalyst for BW, as she tallied 24 assists. Sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) also had a key part, assisting on 20 of the Yellow Jackets 53 total kills. Brown and Mellinger each had two service aces to support the Yellow Jackets offense.

Securing the back line was sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) who amassed 14 digs. Defending the net was sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) who had one solo and one assisted block.

Next match for BW will be at home against Capital University on Friday September 28. Game time is set at 7 p.m. and this will open Ohio Athletic Conference play for the Yellow Jackets.
