Volleyball Falls on the Road to Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team continued their Ohio Athletic Conference play with a match against Muskingum University, inside the Anne C. Steele Center. BW fell in five sets as the defeat marks the third on the season and the second conference loss.  

The BW (23-3 overall, 3-2 OAC) offense was led by freshman outside hitter Mary Zurbrugg (Alliance), who recorded 14 digs. Adding depth to the offensive attack was freshman outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell) and sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights), who tallied 12 and 11 kills respectively.  Sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) directed the Yellow Jackets with 26 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) broke another personal record with four service aces in the match.

Six Yellow Jackets amassed double-digit digs. Freshamn defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) led the way with 16 digs. Senior three time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk), Reinhard, Egan, Earl, and senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) were the other Yellow Jackets in double-digit digs. Sophomore middle hitter Jessica Whitehead (Wyoming, Mich. Wyoming) had two solo blocks to protect the net.

BW will continue their two-game road trip with an OAC match against John Carroll on Tuesday, October 16. Game time is set at 7:30 p.m.
