AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team has been tabbed to finish sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference by coaches in the Preseason Poll.

Picked to finish fourth in the conference a season ago, BW was selected to finish sixth with 49 points in this year's poll. Defending conference champions Ohio Northern University, were picked to finish first with 79 points and seven first place votes. Otterbein University came in second with 74 points and three first place votes. Third in points was University of Mount Union with 62, while Heidelberg University and Muskingum University rounded out the top five with 55 and 51 points, respectively.

The Yellow Jackets finished sixth in the standings for the 2017 campaign, posting a 26-6 record last year with a 4-5 mark in conference play. The Yellow Jackets received a bid to the conference tournament but got knocked out to the Raiders of Mount Union in the quarterfinals.

Head Coach Scott Carter, who enters his seventh season overall as head coach and his fourth in Berea, will return eleven letter winners and five starters from the previous year, including two seniors, one junior, fourteen sophomores and two All-OAC players. Alongside the returners, eight new faces will compete for playing time on the court.

BW opens its season in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on August 31 and September 1 when it competes in the 16th Annual Greyhound Premier Challenge hosted by Moravian College.  The Yellow Jackets will also compete in two other invitationals when they compete in the Brockport (N.Y.) University Invitational on Sept. 7-8 and the Nazareth (N.Y.) College Invitational on Sept. 14-15. BW opens OAC play on September 28 when it hosts Capital University.
