Volleyball Suffers First Conference Loss

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team suffered their second loss of the season and first Ohio Athletic Conference defeat in a Saturday match against Otterbein University by a score of 3-1.

BW (22-2 overall, 2-1 OAC) opened the affair with a 25-19 victory but couldn't keep the momentum rolling after losing in three straight sets, 25-27, 23-25, 23-25.

Sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) recorded 12 kills to lead the Yellow Jackets offensively. Freshman outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell) and sophomore utility player Alexis Garrett (Mentor) also tallied double digit dig kills with 11 and 10 respectively. With 29 of BW's 54 assists, sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) directed the offense, and senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) contributed with 20 as well.

Three different Yellow Jackets accumulated double digit digs, as sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) lead the way with 20. BW defended the net with 12 total assisted blocks.

BW will host Heidelberg University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday October 9 for another conference match-up inside the Lou Higgins Center.
