Volleyball Victorious in Marcia French Match

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team defeated Case Western Reserve University in straight sets in the inagural Marcia French match in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center

BW (16-1) senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk), was bestowed the Yellow Jacket Marcia French Player of the Match after she led BW offensively with 12 kills and also tallied 13 of the team's 60 digs. 

Two other Yellow Jackets, sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) and freshman outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell), recorded double digit kills with 11 and 10, respectively. Brown also led the team with two service aces and two assisted blocks for the night. Sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) anchored the defense with a team leading 20 digs. Facilitating the offense was senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) accumulating a remarkable 25 assists. Sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) played an important role offensively as well with 17 assists.

The Yellow Jackets will be in action again this weekend as they travel to North Manchester, Indiana on Saturday, September 22 when they face off against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Franklin University and host Manchester University at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
