Volleyball Falls in Final Road Match of the Season

ALLIANCE, Ohio – In the final road game of the season, the Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team struggled in their match with the University of Mount Union.

BW (25-4, 5-3 OAC) sank the Purple Raiders in the second set, but could not hold off the barrage in the other three. Mount Union won the match with scores of 23-25, 25-21, 18-25, 21-25.

The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by sophomore utility player Sam Pruett (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley), who set a personal best, 12 kills. Senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) was also in double digits with 11 kills. Sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) tallied 29 assists and senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) marked 22.

Three different Yellow Jackets recorded double digit digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) had 31, Lortcher amassed 14, and freshman outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell) totaled 11. Earl, Lortcher, and sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) each recorded one solo block. Brown also had two assisted blocks, to defend the net.

BW heads home for their final match of the season on Saturday, October 27 for Seniors' and Parents' Day. Match is set to be served up at 1 p.m.
