Reinhard's Record Setting Day Gives BW Two Non-Conference Victories

MEADVILLE, Pennsylvania – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team squared off against host Allegheny (Pa.) College and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College in a tri-match on Saturday, inside the David V. Wise Center.

BW vs. W&J

BW's (21-1 overall, 1-0 OAC) defense was led by sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South), who posted a career-best 32 digs, to help anchor the back line. Sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) and sophomore setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) each recorded a solo block, protecting the net for the Yellow Jackets.

Brown and senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection and Academic All-OAC Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) each tallied 10 digs to lead the BW offense. Egan set up the offense with 30 of the Yellow Jackets 43 assists. Reinhard tied a career best as she posted three service aces and guided the Yellow Jackets in their sweep of the Presidents in straight sets

BW vs. Alleghney

The kills came by committee for BW as a slew of Yellow Jackets recorded more than five kills, as sophomore utility player Alexis Garrett (Mentor) led the way with eight. Egan facilitated the offense with a team leading 14 assists, and senior setter Ashley Nuding (Perrysburg/Springfield) tallied 10 assists of her own.

The defense was carried by Reinhard as she totaled 15 digs for BW. Protecting the net was sophomore middle hitter Allison May (Lousiville/St. Thomas Aquinas) and sophomore middle hitter Jessica Whitehead (Wyoming, Mich. /Wyoming), as each had a solo block. BW took the match in straight sets and improved their winning streak to 18 games.

The next match for the Yellow Jackets will be on Tuesday October 2, as they host #16 Ohio Northern University in BW's second OAC match of the season. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
