AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Four Baldwin Wallace University volleyball players have been selected to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.
Sophomore middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) was selected to the first-team. Freshman outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell) was slotted in the second-team. Sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) and freshman outside hitter Mary Zurbrugg (Alliance) were both awarded honorable mention.
Brown earns her first nomination after having the best year of her collegiate career. This season she recorded 218 kills, 80 blocks, 75 digs, and 31 service aces. Her hitting percentage of .343 was good for third in the conference and her blocks ranked her fifth best. In her career, Brown has accumulated 298 kills, 108 blocks, 90 digs, and 34 service aces. The biology/pre-medicine major earned her first varsity letter this fall.
Earl earns her first nomination of her career after recording 240 kills, 206 digs, 20 blocks, 18 service aces, and an OAC Player of the Week honor on September 10. Her kill total led BW and she was third on the team in digs. She will earn her first varsity letter this fall.
Reinhard garners her first All-OAC honor after recording 85 assists, 31 service aces, 6 kills, and now ranks 11th at BW in season digs with 574. Her dig number was good for third in the conference and was second with 5.80 dig percentage. For her career she has amassed 988 digs, 126 assists, 59 service aces, and 9 kills. The athletic training major will earn her second varsity letter.
Zurbrugg, who played in 27 matches this season, earns her first All-OAC accolade after accumulating 197 kills, 25 digs, 22 blocks, 2 assists, and 1 service ace. She led the team with a .259 kills-per-set was fourth with a hitting percentage of .254. The education major will earn her first varsity letter this fall.
BW concluded the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 27-5 and 7-3 mark in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinal for the first time since 2016.
