BW Volleyball Team Losses at No.11-Ranked Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team lost to No.11-ranked and host Wittenberg University, 3-0, in a non-conference match on Pam Smith Court in the Wittenberg HPER Center. Earlier this morning, BW defeated host Wilmington College, 3-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference match in Wilmington.
 
The Tigers, 15-9 overall, defeated the Yellow Jackets, 9-15 overall, by the scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-8.
 
BW was led offensively by senior middle hitter Kayla Harris (Lima) and senior outside hitter Taylor Burns (Tiffin/Fostoria St. Wendelin) with three kills apiece. The offense was set up by senior Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) with seven set assists and 11 defensive digs.  
 
Defensively, freshman libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the way with 16 digs. 
 
With her 11 digs this evening, Deleur now has 1,403 in her career to rank seventh all-time in school history. She needs 210 more to catch Kim Stoll (2003-2004) who is ranked sixth with 1,613 digs.
 
BW returns home and will end its 2013 home schedule next week when it hosts OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 pm. and then host OAC-rival Capital University on Saturday, Oct. 26 on Seniors' and Parents' Day at 12:00 noon.
