BW Volleyball Defeated by No. 11 Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team was defeated by No. 11 nationally-ranked and Ohio Athletic Conference leader the University of Mount Union in an OAC match by a fianl of 3-0 in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex. 

The Yellow Jackets (10-17, 3-5 OAC) dropped three sets to the Purple Raiders (26-4, 7-1 OAC) by scores of 18-25, 18-25 and 14-25.

The BW offense was led by junior middle hitter Markema Winters (Akron/Firestone) with six kills. In addition, senior outside hitter Taylor Burns (Tiffin/Fostoria St. Wendelinn) recorded five kills.  Senior setter Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) set up the offense with 16 assists.

Defensively, Burns led the way with 16 digs. In addition to Burns, freshman defensive specialist Allyson Iwanski (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and freshman libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/ St. Paul) recorded 14 and 12, respectively.

The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season when they travel to Marietta on Saturday, November 2 for an OAC match with Marietta College in the Ban Johnson Arena at 11:00 a.m.   Fans can follow all the action via live stats at http://www.sidearmstats.com/marietta/wvball/.
