BW Volleyball Team Splits at Hiram Tri-Match

HIRAM – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team  split a pair of matches at the Hiram Tri-Match in the Price Gymnasium on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets (6-6) fell to Defiance in four sets by scores of 20-25, 15-25, 26-24 and 16-25 and beat Hiram in five sets by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 10-25, 25-21 and 15-10.  

In the opener against Defiance, BW was led offensively by sophomore outside hitter Anna Miley (West Salem/Northwestern) with 11 kills. Senior setter Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/Columbia) hit double figures in assists with 19.  Senior middle hitter Colleen Bonacci (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) had three services aces.  Defensively, senior libero Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) led the way with 32 digs. 

Against Hiram, the Yellow Jacket offense was led by Bonacci with 17 kills and added three service aces. Nagle hit double figures in assists with 21. Defensively, Deleur led the way with 17 digs and Nagle contributed 15.  Senior middle hitter Kayla Harris (Lima) led the way with eight blocks.

BW returns to action on Wednesday, September 18 when it hosts NCAA Division II Notre Dame College of Ohio for a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
