Women’s Soccer Falls to Otterbein to End Season in OAC Tournament Quarterfinals

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The No. 6 seeded Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team ended its 2022 season when it fell to No. 3 seeded Otterbein University in the Ohio Athletic Conference quarterfinal by a final score of 2-1 inside the Memorial Stadium.

BW Leaders (9-9-1)

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) led the Yellow Jackets with seven saves. 
  • Junior All-OAC forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) scored the lone goal for BW.

Otterbein Leaders (11-4-3)

  • Ella Schwertfager had one save in the match. 
  • Morgan Somers and Payton Kaufman scored a goal each for the Cardinals.

First Half (Otterbein 1-0)

  • Otterbein was awarded a penalty kick early in the game, which Kaufman converted into a goal at 4:43.

Second Half (Otterbein 2-1)

  • At 56:48 senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Farrell (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) slid a ball through to Rice who shot it past the goalie into the net, putting the Yellow Jackets on the board. 
  • The Cardinals took the lead again when Somers scored at the 73:59-mark. 
  • The Yellow Jacket picked up momentum taking nine shots in the half.

BW concludes the 2022 season in the OAC Quarterfinals with a record of 9-9-1 and a mark of 4-4-1 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets made their 10th consecutive appearance in the OAC Tournament, including all six seasons under head coach Jim Wojtkun.
