Four Women’s Soccer Student Athletes Receive Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Honors

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Four Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student athletes received Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association recognition. 

Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) was tabbed to the All-Ohio second team. Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC midfielder Brandi Filippi (Pickerington/North) and sophomore defender Ella Barth (Highland/Mayfield) were named to the All-Ohio third team. Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Farrell (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) was tabbed to the Academic All-Ohio first team. 

Rice earns her second consecutive OCSA All-Ohio honors after being tabbed to the second team. Earlier, this season Rice earned All-OAC honors and OAC All-Tournament honors. She appeared in 19 games and making 18 starts. She was fifth in the OAC with a team leading 11 goals. Rice also had two assists for 24 points. She took 103 shots with 54 on goal. In her career, Rice has appeared in 37 games and made 35 starts. She is seventh in school history in career goals scored with 29 goals. Rice has added four assists which is good for 62 points, which is eighth in program history. She has taken 216 shots with 109 on goal.

Filippi earns her first All-Ohio recognition as she was named to the third team. She was named to the All-OAC team for the second consecutive season. Filippi, appeared in 14 games and made 13 starts. She took seven shots with three on goal. Off the field, she is a two-time Academic All-OAC performer, an Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Academic All-Ohio second team selection and a Jacket Scholar. In her career, Fillipi has appeared in 62 games and made 44 starts. She scored six goals with two assists for seven points. She has taken 44 shots with 22 on goal.

Barth also earned her first All-Ohio third team honors after being tabbed to the All-OAC team for the first time in her career. Barth, who earns her first career accolade, appeared in 14 games and made 13 starts. She scored a career-high three goals and added a career-best two assists for a career-high eight points. Barth took 13 shots with seven on goal. In her career, Barth has appeared in 33 games and made 29 starts. She has scored five goals and added three assists for 13 points. She has taken 40 shots with 20 on goal.  

Farrell was named to the Academic All-Ohio team first team for the consecutive season. Farrell was named to All-OAC team for the second time this season. Farrell, who earns her second career honor after being named to the second-team in 2019, appeared in 18 games and made 17 starts. She scored four goals and had a career-high four assists for a career-best 12 points. Farrell took 40 shots with 22 on goal. Off the field, she is a three-time Academic All-OAC selection, a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. In her career, Farrell has appeared in 75 games with 60 starts. She has scored 13 goals with four assists for 30 points. She has taken 126 shots with 64 on goal. 

BW finished the season with a trip to the OAC Quarterfinals and an overall record of 9-9-1 with a 4-4-1 mark in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets have made 10 consecutive OAC Tournament appearances.
