Women’s Soccer Ends Regular Season With Tie at Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team tied Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match by a final score of 2-2 on Purmort Field inside Bernlohr Stadium. 

BW Leaders (9-8-1, 4-4-1 OAC)

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) led with nine saves.
  • Sophomore forward Ella Barth (Highland/Mayfield) and Junior All-OAC forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) scored a goal each.

CAP Leaders (11-2-3, 7-0-2)

  • Lauren White recorded two saves.
  • Avery Hart and Sophia Leonetti each scored one goal for the Comets.

First Half (BW 2-1)

  • At 18:23, Hart opened up the scoring when she hit the ball low into the net. 
  • Eight minutes later, the Yellow Jackets were awarded a penalty kick. Barth took the kick, and scored the first point for the BW. 
  • Just before halftime, Rice took a shot from outside the box which found the back of the net. 

Second Half (Tie 2-2)

  • Capital took four total corner kicks in the second half.
  • With just 42 seconds left in the game, Capital took a corner kick which bounced around in the box and was scored by Leonetti. 

Securing a spot in the OAC Tournament, the Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday, November 1st for the conference quarterfinals. BW will travel to Westerville to face Otterbein University.
