Women’s Soccer Takes Down Geneva (Pa.)

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team took down non-conference opponent Geneva (Pa.) College by a final score of 4-0 on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.

BW Leaders (4-1)

  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) led the way with two goals to get her to five goals on the season. Rice is now tied for the eight most goals in school history.
  • Junior midfielder Alissa Scattino (Girard/Warren John F. Kennedy) scored her first goal of the season.
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Farrell (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) scored her first goal of the season.
  • Freshman midfielder Mary Litzinger (Sardinia/Eastern Brown) led the team with two assists and those were the first assists of her career.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Darcy Schoen (Chicago, Ill./Saint Ignatius College Prep) led with three saves. 

Geneva Leaders (1-3-2)

  • Jade Farnsworth led the way with six saves.
  • Maci Shaffer led with two shots.

First Half (3-0, BW)

  • Rice got the scoring going with an unassisted goal at the 13-minute mark.
  • Rice went back-to-back with goals as she scored off an assist from Litzinger.
  • Scattino scored the final goal of the half off a long pass from senior Academic All-OAC midfielder Bella Reigle (Niles/McKinley).
  • The Yellow Jackets led the half with 14 shots compared the Golden Tornadoes five.
  • BW led the half with six corner kick opportunities.
  • The Yellow Jackets led the half with three saves.

Second Half (4-0, BW)

  • The lone goal of the second half came from Farrell off Litzinger's second assist of the game.
  • The BW defense held Geneva to zero shots while the offense managed 10.
  • The Yellow Jackets had two corner kick opportunities.
  • The Golden Tornadoes led the half with six saves.

BW is back in action on Saturday, September 17 in the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader against non-conference opponent Waynesburg (Pa.) College at 8:00 p.m. at the John F. Wiley Stadium.
