Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 8 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.)

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team fell to No. 8 nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) University in a non-conference match by a final score of 5-0 on the CMU Soccer Field. 

BW Leaders (5-3)

  • Sophomore goalie Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) led the team with three saves.

Carnegie Mellon Leaders (5-1-1)

  • Catherine MacNichol led the Tartan's with two goals.
  • Olivia Brand recorded four saves.

First Half (CMU 2-0)

  • The first 15 minutes featured some back and forth play with corner kicks from both sides. 
  • At 18:35 Carnegie Mellon got on the board first with a shot from outside the box by Jenna Hallbeck.
  • The Tartans grabbed their second goal by Cecelia Dietrich at 26:11 after the ball rebounded off of the crossbar. 

Second Half (CMU 3-0)

  • Carnegie Mellon got up the field early and MacNichol scored their third goal of the match 26 seconds into the second half. 
  • At 61 minutes, a foul inside the Yellow Jacket box awarded the Tartans with a penalty kick. MacNichol scored again to pick up their fourth goal. 
  • The Tartans scored their fifth and final goal of the match by Maria Askounis at 77:37.
  • Carnegie Mellon led with 11 corner kicks.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, September 28th when they travel to Wooster for a non-conference game against The College of Wooster at 4:30 p.m. on the Carl Dale Field.
