Women's Soccer Team Falls To Capital, 1-0, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team lost to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University, 1-0, today (Wednesday, October 6, 2010) in an OAC match.  This was the first game of a women's and then men's doubleheader.

With its loss, B-W is now 5-6-2 overall and 0-1-1 OAC, and next plays on Saturday, Oct. 9 when it travels to OAC-rival and fifth-ranked Otterbein University in Westerville at 1:00 p.m. With its win, Capital is now 6-3-3, 2-0 OAC overall.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes, the Crusaders scored the lone goal of the game at the 66:28 mark Lauren Bartsch scored off a pass from Hillary Ells for the lone goal of the game.

The Yellow Jackets outshot the Crusaders, 16-11, but Capital won the corner battle, 3-2.

In net, B-W senior Caitlin Sutter (Toledo/ Sylvania Southview) played all 90 minutes and made six saves.

Following its match at Otterbein, the Yellow Jackets host Heidelberg University on Tuesday, October 12 in an OAC match. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
